Most, if not all, of our teams will play in the Predator Basketball League held at the OSA. Other league options for example would be Kellom and the Conqueror League. Games for the fall league generally start the last weekend in October and end around mid to late December. Games for winter leagues generally begin around the first of January and go through the end of February or in some cases, early March.  Teams will play more tournaments the second half of the season than the first half of the season. You can count on playing tournaments through mid to late March.

Therefore, the season begins with practices in early October and goes through your last scheduled tournament in mid to late March.

OSA Select Basketball Teams

Why the OSA Select Basketball Program

Leadership/Coaching: The OSA Select Basketball program is coordinated by Mitch Runco. Prior to coming on board at the OSA, Coach Runco served as Coach Bill Self's student manager at Kansas! Bob Franzese, OSA General Manager and long time Omaha basketball coach also has a direct hand in this program. Our coaches are highly qualified and generally do not have children playing on the team.

Practices: You can count on OSA team practices to be crisp, professionally run, and fun! While games are important, we feel that players are ultimately made on the practice floor. Our staff of highly qualified and trained coaches will take your child's game to the next level! Having our own facility allows us to have a consistent practice schedule. For example this past year, there were numerous occasions where schools were closed and we still practiced.

Commissioners: New to this season, there will be commissioners assigned to a cluster of teams. Parents can feel free to communicate freely and directly with each grade's group commissioner about the team and their child's progress.

Summer and Fall Skill Sessions: We agree with Roy Williams, coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels, when he says, “Teams are made during the season and players are made during the off season.” Our summer skills sessions, summer camp, and fall skills sessions are designed to do the following:
-Teach a consistent skill set to everyone in the program.
-     -Teach a consistent schematic set to all teams in the program.
-Give players direction as to what they exactly should be working on to improve their skills.
-Ultimately, our work during the summer will define us as a program!!

Process for Selecting Teams:Following the Loyalty Program and Tryouts, we will have 38 – 40 players in each boys age group and 18-20 players in each girls age group. Following the completion of the summer skills clinics and summer camps, players will be divided into their respective teams. Teams will be announced online. Teams will go through September skills sessions with their respective teams.

As an extra bonus to being a part of the Omaha Sports Academy your child will receive:

A year round open gym membership.

50% off of all academies and  25% off of camps/schools out clinics.

One way for us to communicate the reasonableness of this price to look at it on a price per hour of instruction to which your son/daughter is entitled as a member of our select program.  Accordingly:

Regular Season Practices: 24 weeks x 2 practices/week x 1.5 hours/practice = 72 hours

While we recognize that our prices may be higher than other local programs around town, please note the breakdown above does not factor-in the following additional benefits, many of which are unique to our program:

Each select player in our program receives 50% off academy prices and 25% off camp prices and a free open gym membership.

We have our own facility – when school districts close , other organizations practice schedules are disrupted, we generally still practice! Our state of the art facility is safe, secure, etc.

We have a full time basketball director who is directly involved with each of the teams, specifically their coaches. Furthermore, Bob Franzese, OSA General Manager, is directly involved in this as well! OSA Professional staff goes to great lengths to train coaches, observe and evaluate teams, and ensure that each player is developing appropriately.

Our program meets year round. We will provide consistent instruction throughout the year. We believe that our summer program is equally as important as our winter program!

**Uniform Fee: Players will also be charged a $75 uniform fee when they pick up their uniforms in September.  Each player will receive a top of the line reversible game  jersey, game shorts, and a reversible practice jersey.  Players will keep their jerseys, and if it fits the following year, will be able to wear it the next year as well!

Fundraising opportunities and scholarships are available. We do not want to turn you away because of a monetary situation.
